East Greenville Fire Company 2009 House Championship
04/11/09
The day started with 48 of the best
bowlers in the house who were positioned based on 2008/2009 house
average from league play. The 48 bowlers rolled in 12 groups to
find sixteen winners to move on and bowl the balance of the tournament
single elimination head to head style.
The sixteen bowlers to move on were
Jeff Wied, Rick Eschbach, Ron Oberholtzer, Larry Hoff, Charlie Roth, Joe
Adam Jr, Don Shavor, Lane Brinckman, Scott Engle, Ron Jacoby, Dave
Homsher, Bob Heimbach, Jon Leister, Randy Cleaver, Andy Hawkins, and
Carl Tankred.
In the Head to Head round Jeff Wied
was edged out by Carl Tankred 215 to 206, Jeff is eliminated. Lane
Brinckman 226 over Scott Engle, Scott is eliminated. Bob Heimbach 180
over Charlie Roth 170, Charlie is eliminated. Larry Hoff 211 over Jon
Leister 197, Jon is eliminated. Ron Oberholtzer 245 over Randy Cleaver
211, Randy is done. Dave Homsher closed out Joe Adam Jr, Don Shavor 219
and Ron Jakoby 215, Ron was eliminated. Rick Eschbach 228 over Andy
Hawkins 212 to eliminate Andy.
Down to eight bowlers everything
gets more and more important to each bowler so Larry Hoff decided to use
his experience and go to work on a 243 to 205 win over Bob Heimbach that
completed Bob's day. Next Lane Brinckman won over Carl Tankred to win
and move on. Don Shavor just edged one out over Rick Eschbach to
eliminated Rick and move himself into the seimi finals. Dave Homsher
wanted the last spot and took it from Ron Oberholtzer to complete the
final four.
Larry Hoff and Lane Brinckman go at
it and Larry has a third frame split and turned out to be just enough
for Lane to take a win and move on. Larry had a great tournament.
Dave Homsher drew Don Shavor which
just proved to be the wrong guy, with both bowlers bowling well all day
Don didn't wait for Dave to make the mistake he just got all the pins he
could and ended up with a 186 to 204 win and and meeting with Lane
Brinckman for the title.
Down to only two bowlers and six
games under their belts the match between Don Shavor and Lane Brinckman
was everything you would want to see. As true champions both bowlers
work hard and didn't give up taking a nine pin separation into the tenth
frame Lane knowing he needs to strike out to have a chance, and Don
knowing he needs to do the same to shut out Lane. In the end it turns
out that Don Shavor pulls the win out with a 232 to 214 victory.
The East Greenville Fire Co. 2009
House Champion is "Don Shavor".
