Thursday, April 7, 2011 At weekly practice, the EGFD used their new Amkus Portable Power unit and Speedway Cutter for the first time. These new pieces of equipment were purchased utilizing funds supplied through the Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program administered by the Pennsylvania Office of the State Commissioner. Each year, the EGFD has utilized funds from this grant stream to replace equipment, assist with apparatus payments and complete station upgrades. Meeting the member's approval, this new rescue equipment has been placed in service to replace some aging equipment.
Friday, March 18, 2011 Members of the EGFD recently completed the annual HazMat Operations Refresher training presented by Jim Barkus of the Montgomery County Fire Academy. The course was a combination of class room and practical exercise that included 4-Gas Meter operation and donning and doffing of PPE as demonstrated by Lieutenant Corey Gressley. Thanks to Jim Barkus for a good training session.
