EGFD Firefighters Receive Rescue I Training

As a part of the Drill Maintenance program contracted through the Montgomery County Fire Academy, Station 38 firefighters are currently undertaking training to receive Rescue I certification.  This is refresher training for most of our firefighters but good training none the less.  17 firefighters are enrolled in this 30 hour class that will put the EGFD that much closer to Rescue Operations level certification.

The New "Engine 38"

The EGFD is currently investigating the purchase of a new engine to replace Engine 38 a 1988 Hahn 1500 GPM - 1500 Gallon tank.  The new Engine 38 will have seating for 6 firefighters, a 1750 GPM pump, 1000 gallon water tank and will utilize a Compressed Air Foam System for fire attack.  The truck committee is currently discussing other various issues concerning the construction of this truck and will be selecting a manufacturer in the near future.  More to come soon!!

The next step for the Truck Committee is to hold pre-construction meeting with the sales engineers at KME.  This will hopefully take place in about two weeks.  Delivery for the truck is tentatively scheduled for November of 2007.  Check back for future updates and picture of the blue prints
